5 Game changing supplements for PCOS & Feminine Wellness

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

Now I've said it before! And I'll say it again. I am nobody's Doctor. But I have lived 39 years on this green earth and had my fair share of health imbalances over the years. By the grace of God, I've been able to heal majority of them naturally. Changing my eating and lifestyle, acupuncture, reflexology and therapy. (I should also inform you that my Mother is an absolute health fanatic! So I get a lot of this knowledge and experience from her. She survived breast cancer with no chemo, high blood pressure without medication and had asthma as a child.)

As I continue to share my personal journey with others, It's been amazing to see how many women have met the same challenges. I truly feel a sense of community when I share not only what I've been through, but what has helped me overcome and find the beauty in the process. If you've been following me for a while, you know that I am an advocate for health as it relates beauty. I like to call it holistic beauty. Healing my body from PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) helped me address so many insecurities and get to the root of the emotional trauma that resulted in the imbalance I've struggled with for many years. The supplements I am going to share with you have truly changed the game in my daily management. And they can benefit anyone dealing with imbalances many of us experience.

Vitamin D

Nicknamed the "sunshine vitamin" due to its ability to be absorbed by the body through sunlight. This one is a major player in keeping the human body healthy. Its main job, according to the National Institutes of Health's Office of Dietary Supplements, is to promote calcium absorption, making it necessary for bone growth and bone remodeling (when mature bone tissue is removed and new bone tissue is formed). Because of that, a lack of vitamin D can lead to thin & brittle bones.

Vitamin D can help prevent Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes (Combined with calcium lowers amount of sugar in the blood)

Vitamin D can help treat hypertension (Deficiency raises blood pressure)

Vitamin D can help you lose weight (Suppresses the appetite)

Vitamin D can help battle depression (Just like the sun can brighten your mood)

DIM

Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a compound created when you digest cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli or Brussels sprouts. Research suggests that DIM affects estrogen levels in your body. As a result, DIM supplements have been gaining popularity as a potential treatment for a variety of hormone-related conditions, including acne, menopause symptoms, prostate issues, and certain forms of cancer.

Fights acne. DIM supplements are sometimes used to treat hormonal acne. (I can honestly say I notice a difference in my breakouts when I run out of this!)

Reduces hot flashes. Hot flashes during menopause likely result from hormonal changes.

Relieves PMS symptoms. PMS symptoms are thought to be due to monthly changes in estrogen levels.

Corrects estrogen imbalances in men. High levels of estrogen in men are linked to breast growth, erectile dysfunction, and infertility.

Ashwagandha is Sanskrit for smell of the horse, which refers to both its unique smell and ability to increase strength.
